My Thoughts on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

PG-13 | 2h 13 mins | Adventure, Family, Fantasy | November 16, 2016

Did I Like It?

My overall feeling towards the show.

Comparing this to the Harry Potter movies, I like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them a lot more. I liked the main characters more and I thought the story was more engaging and exciting to be a part of. The world felt magical without being in your face about it, which I really appreciated. Plus there wasn’t a whiny teenager full of angst, but a socially awkward teenager full of dark magic that would occasionally explode into a whirling vortex of death and destruction.

Napability?

How easily could I sleep through this.

I wouldn’t recommend sleeping through this one and I say that because the characters are really fun. The dynamic between Newt Scamander and Jacob Kowalski is entertaining through out the whole film and not something I’d miss.

What’s It Worth?

How much effort/money would I put towards this show.

I saw this movie in theater and believed it to be worth it. I will also be looking to own it, especially as I look to complete my collection of the Harry Potter movies.

How Often Would I Watch It?

The frequency that I would watch this.

Looking forward, since this movie just came out on DVD, I think this will be a movie I watch once a year. I know that Harry Potter weekend on TV will still be going on, so I don’t think I’ll be missing out on my fill of the Wizarding World if I watch it every now and then.

Any “I’m Out!” Moments?

Moments where I mentally or physically check out of the show.

The only times that I checked out of this movie was whenever the President of the Magical Congress of the United States of a America (MACUSA) was talking. I know she was only trying to do what she thought was “best” for the magical community, but she came across as an ignorant political leader that wasn’t willing to see reason. Why can’t there just be a government that works?!
