My Thoughts on How to Train Your Dragon

PG | 1h 38 mins | Action, Adventure, Animation | March 26, 2011

Did I Like It?

My overall feeling towards the show.

This is a great movie, in my opinion. Who hasn’t dreamed of riding a dragon? I love the characters and the story as a whole. It encourages me to dream and fantasizes about being a viking and going on adventures with my dragon steed. I know it’s the obvious choice, but I would definitely hope for a Night Fury. Black scales and fiery explosive blasts. That sounds right up my alley.

Napability?

How easily could I sleep through this.

I would consider this one difficult to sleep through. Even though I just watched it at 4 a.m. I still didn’t fall asleep.

What’s It Worth?

How much effort/money would I put towards this show.

How to Train Your Dragon is definitely a movie to own, even if you don’t have kids. That’s about it though. I know some people are really into the fandom and get the merchandise, but I’d stick to maybe a T–shirt, if it was me.

How Often Would I Watch It?

The frequency that I would watch this.

This movie comes up in movie suggestions all the time when we’re trying to pick something to watch, but it usually gets outvoted. That being said, I’d pull this out once or twice a year, especially on a rainy day.

Any “I’m Out!” Moments?

Moments where I mentally or physically check out of the show.

I stay pretty engaged throughout the whole film. That’s probably because I love dragons, but it’s still a good sign. If I do have to check out for a moment, it’s not too difficult. This is a very easy movie to come in and out of and still follow the story enough to enjoy it.
